AMD's and Intel newest processor chips are dual core processors. What are dual core processors and what advantages do they have you ask?
Dual-core chips build in two processing cores, in effect giving you two CPU's in a single processor chip. These processors also Included two L2 memory caches, one for each core. These features will increase performance for working with multiple applications at once or when using multi threaded software that has a design to recognize more than one processor.
The Dual-Core processors calculate on two streams of data. This will increase efficiency and speed while working with multiple programs and the future generation of multi-threaded software. This should mean a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications at the same time.
This will work great for the office workplace. The dual-core processor will deliver true multi-tasking allowing users to switch from one software program to another with out being slowed down by computer hesitation. This will greatly increase the office workplace productivity.
Dual core processing also has it place for digital media software and its demands of simultaneous processing of data streams. Users will get high-definition video and photo editing, content creation and audio mixing. The dual core processor will be great for using power-hungry digital media software.
Computer users may perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and Playing graphic intensive games all while running virus scan or other background tasks seamlessly. These processors are for users today have that have high expectations for PC performance with little tolerance for degradation in experience.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core will be a socket 939 offering 4200+, 4400+, 4600+ and 4800+ with two caches of 512 Mb or 1Mb depending on the processor. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processors provide the same level of system features of the AMD Athlon 64 processor family. The features include 32 and 64-bit software compatible, AMD’s Enhanced Virus Protection for Microsoft ® Windows ® XP SP2*, Cool'n'Quiet™ technology for a quieter computer and lower power costs, HyperTransport™ technology and an integrated DDR memory controller for maximum performance and system efficiency
The Intel Pentium D processor brings this power at three performance levels [3.20, 3.00 and 2.80 GHz]. These processors are Socket-LGA775 running at 800 Mhz front side bus with two caches of 1 Mb. Intel features include Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep® Technology which enables cooler and quieter PC designs, depending on system implementation and usage (Not available on 820). Execute Disable Bit this can help to prevent some classes of viruses and worms that exploit buffer overrun vulnerabilities thus helping to improve the overall security of the system. Finally Intel extended memory 64 technology, processors with Intel EM64T allow platforms to access larger amounts of memory and will support 64-bit extended operating systems.

High-Performance PC Terminology
Interested in learning high-performance computer terminology? This information may help when shopping for a high-performance PC, custom gaming computer or home entertainment PC. These are some of the main components in these computers and give explanations of new terminology and what advantages they provide.
CPU: Newer technology Central Processing Units usually run hotter than their predecessors. Along with new CPU’s you will see larger CPU fans and sometimes case standard modifications to accommodate better airflow to help cool the CPU. CPU’s rarely go bad unless they overheat due to poor airflow. This usually caused by bad CPU fan or excessive dust that collects on the CPU fan causing fan failure. Overclocking your CPU also will cause it to run at extreme temperatures. It is imperative to keep the CPU within recommended operating temperatures.
Memory: Modern memory technology is also constantly changing. Modern memory modules usually offer better performance for your computer. DDR2 is currently the memory offering the greatest performance. The memory module inserts into the motherboard memory slots. The motherboard does need to be designed to accommodate the correct memory types. Dual channel memory also offers greater performance than single channel memory. When your computer does not have sufficient memory your data flow will be trapped in a bottleneck not allowing maximum performance from your computer. Adding memory is the best cost effective method of improving your computers performance.
PCI Express Video: Most High-performance PCs or gaming computers use PCI Express expansion slots. The PCIe slots provide up to 30 times the data transfer of the standard PCI bus and will eventually replace all the PCI and AGP slots. PCIe slots come in different lengths in relation to the amount of data they can move.
PCIe x1 slots are equivalent to standard PCI port and are about 1 inch or 26mm in length. Data moves at the speed of about 250 MBps in each direction at once. The PCIe x16 slot currently is the newest technology replacing the AGP graphics-card slot. This slot is about 3.5 inches or 90mm in length. About the same size as a standard PCI slot. The PCI x16 slot moves data up to 16 times faster than the PCIx1 as fast 4GBps in each direction simultaneously.
SATA bus: Serial ATA is the modern technology replacement for the slower ATA or EIDE technology. SATA supports more bandwidth than PATA (Parallel ATA) SATA has been on new motherboards for the past two years along with PATA (EIDE) connectors. SATA connectors are smaller than PATA connectors and will only accommodate one drive per connector. The advantage is you do not have to configure master, slave drive as on the PATA connectors. The SATA cable is also thinner so it does not clutter the inside of your computer case. This allows better airflow for cooling inside your case. You may also find these connectors as an external connector giving a faster connector than a USB or Firewire connection. The power cable to the SATA drive is also a different connector than the PATA standard 5v power connector.
Video and Audio
DVI port: Digital video interface accommodate modern technology monitors. These replace the VGA connectors used by analog CRT and some LCD monitors. DVI delivers digital video.
HDMI port: High Definition Multimedia Interface ports are incorporated in some home entertainment PCs, High-Performance PCs and gaming computers. This modern technology will most probably replace the DVI in the future. The connector resembles a slimmed down USB connector and is easier to handle than the DVI connector. The HDMI does not only deliver digital video but, also digital audio. This technology works great for home entertainment systems.
S/PDIF: Sony/ Philips Digital Interface Format uses a small square connector called a TOSlink connector. This connector is usually on the back of home entertainment PCs, high-performance computers or gaming computers. This carries the digital signal directly from the motherboard to the speakers bypassing any soundcard or external device.
Every digital signal must be converted to analog in order to drive the flexible diaphragm in a speaker that creates the sound. On most computers the sound card converts digital audio to analog signals which are then sent to the speakers. Digital speakers perform the digital to analog conversion inside the speaker. The longer an audio signal stays digital the better the sound quality.

Judul asli : 8 Tips for Landing a Job in '08

The Evolution Of HP and Epson Inkjet Printers
When you’re looking for ink for printers, two names rise to the top of the pile: HP inkjet cartridges and Epson ink cartridges. Of course, it really depends on what brand printer you own, but if you’re after high quality prints, HP and Epson will deliver quality both in the printers they make and in the ink they develop for their printers.
Actually, the word “develop” pretty well sums up the difference between HP inkjet cartridges, Epson ink cartridges, and their competitors. Both of these giants in the printing industry continually put your money back to work for you by researching, developing, and implementing the most current innovative technologies to deliver the best print solutions to their customers including the ink for the printers they market.
Hewlett Packard didn’t start out making HP inkjet cartridges. In fact, they didn’t start making ink for printers. HP was started in 1939 by Stanford classmates, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard who made an audio oscillator—an instrument used by sound engineers and then sold eight of them for use in the movie Walt Disney movie Fantasia.
Hewlett Packard’s dedication to providing their customers with new technologies has carried them through the decades. In 1978, HP dove into the field of desktop printing and in 1984 released the “Thinkjet” and later that year, the HP Laserjet Printer. The dependability and affordability of these two HP Printers changed the direction of the entire printing industry. This year, HP’s development and release of Vivera Ink for printers is a new breakthrough in 21st Century photographic imaging.
Epson has long been a household word in both consumer and business printing, simplifying solutions for specialized operations like the first seven-color archival desktop photo printer to offering the home-computer user an Epson ink cartridge that tells you when it’s running dry!
The company is a subsidiary of the Japan-based Seiko Epson Corporation, which evolved from K. Hattori & Company, a company that was established in 1881 and involved in the importing and exporting of clocks and watches. In 1968, Suwa Seikosha (the parent company of the Seiko Group) developed the first commercially successful printer mechanism, the EP-101. In 1975, the Epson brand was established and since that time Epson has been the forerunner of many innovations in desktop printing and ink for their printers. Epson prides itself in its century-long development of precision solutions for its customers.
An attribute Epson and HP share is their attention to precision detail; both continually deliver the best not only in products such as their printers but also in support products like the ink for the printers they sell. Another characteristics these companies have in common is their dedication to doing business in an environmentally responsible manner in the understanding that preserving their market is as important as broadening it.

Protecting Children Online With Internet Parental Controls
The World Wide Web is a fascinating place. It has obliterated geography in terms of education and business. It facilitates learning by allowing kids to see things and experiences aspects of different places they may never get the chance to see in the non-virtual world. The Internet can bring people together who otherwise would never know each other and create a virtual universe that is totally cohesive, with every kind of information imaginable literally available at your fingertips. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Unfortunately, the Internet has a dark side. It is full of material that is inappropriate for children and all kinds of predators. Leaving your kids alone to fend for themselves on the Web is exactly as dangerous at leaving them in a crowed airport or shopping mall. You don’t know where they’re going or who with. The news is filled with horror stories about kids who have been taken advantage of on the Internet, but you don’t want yours to miss out on all the positive aspects of the technology. The first line of defense in keeping your kids save on the Web is to teach them how to use it safely.
A lot of online dangers can be dodged simply by reminding kids of one of their earliest learned lessons: don’t talk to strangers. The kinds of people who want to harm kids have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves. They may try to lull your child into a false sense of security by pretending to be someone she knows. Make sure your child understands that it isn’t a good idea to give out personal information such as their address, phone number or the name of their school. The less information a potential predator has, the harder it will be for him to actually locate a victim. It might be a good idea to establish a secret password and share it only with friends and family so your kid has a way to identify people who are safe to chat with.
Chat interfaces and instant messaging are great tools for keeping in touch with friends and conduct business, but they are also direct connections between your child and possible pedophiles and other predators. Most instant messengers have settings that will only allow people on a pre-approved list to approach your child. That way you can let the kids chat with family and friends while keeping the bad guys out. You can visit http://www.internet-parental-control.org to find more information on online child safety measures.
You can’t watch your kids every minute they are online, and you can’t always count on them to do what you have taught them to do. Parental control software is a great back up. Most browsers will allow you to customize age-appropriate settings for each child in your house. You can choose what kinds of Web sites you want your kids to access and block them out of the ones you don’t. It’s a great way to provide a virtual safety net for your family. If the parental controls supplied by your Internet Service Provider, check into installing additional software that will evaluate each site your child attempts to access. You set criteria by which the software judges each Web page and assigns a rating, much like a movie rating. Your kids will only be able to look at sites with ratings you have deemed appropriate.

How To Boost Your IQ
You may think that you’re stuck with the current IQ that you have for good. However, there is a way that you can boost your IQ to a much higher level than you thought possible.
A French psychologist by the name of Alfred Binet first published the modern intelligence tests to evaluate if special students need help in school classes in 1905. Then a few years later in 1912, a German psychologist by the name of William Stern came up with the term “intelligence quotient” or I.Q. After him, there was a formula developed to identify the intelligence level of a person that is used up to this day.
The formula is as follows; 100 multiplied Mental Age divided by Chronological age. For example, if a 10 year old child scored as high as the average 13 year old, then the child would have an IQ of 130. (100 times 13 divided by 10)
The best way to boost your IQ and to land high IQ test scores is to buy study versions of the standardized tests. There are many kinds of IQ tests and they do come in many forms. Some of them use several sub portions, and are divided into different sections, such as verbal, math, spatial, etc. Others use a single item or type of question.
The typical IQ test will require you to solve a number of problems in a supervised setting. You may also be timed. The IQ test will include things from various domains, such as spatial visualization, perceptual speed, short-term memory, and verbal skills.
There are other IQ tests, that are not supervised and do not have a time limit. These are usually geared for measuring very high intelligence. When you are preparing to study for your IQ tests, determine which kind you are going to take. The most widely used IQ test is the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale or WAIS. There are about 14 subtests within this IQ test, which include object assembly, symbol search, picture arrangement, matrix reasoning, block design, digital symbol coding, picture completion, letter & number sequencing, vocabulary, and numerical reasoning.
So, you can search for study guides for the main IQ tests, such as the WAIS, Stanford-Binet, Miller-Analogies, Cattell Culture Fair II, and Raven’s Progressive Matrices. You can go to Amazon.com or to Barnes & Noble to find study guides.
You can also buy brain teaser books and go over the exercises. Don’t just do them once or twice, but practice them over and over, until they are imprinted on your brain. What starts to happen is that you will subconsciously pick up a pattern of these IQ tests, and you’ll be able to easily solve almost any question or problem. The thing about standardized IQ tests is that that they all pretty much have the same questions over and and over again, except they are worded or arranged a little different. The main patterns and principles remain constant.
You can also test for the Graduate Record Exam or GRE. This test is accepted by major High IQ societies such as MENSA. I have found that the Graduate Record Exam has a lot of the same questions and structures in it that the standardized IQ tests have.
Getting a study copy of the GRE is pretty easy, and you could probably get an older copy at your local public library. Just do the exercises over and over again, so you can get used to the structures of the questions.
Then, after you have taken your IQ test and scored high, you can take the results and join different high IQ societies. This can help you in your personal life as well as your career. A lot of people will list the fact that they are members of certain high IQ societies on job resumes, and it can mean the difference between getting hired or rejected.
Boosting your IQ is nothing short than practicing IQ tests. The more you practice taking them, the easier they get, and pretty soon, you, too can have a genius IQ.

How To Build A Flash Game – Flash Beginners Guide 101
Gaming is popular world wide and most people play games without knowing how a game is actually made. It takes inspiration, verve, technology, and more to create a game that captures the mind and heart of players all over the world.
The first step to making a game is to have a story. The story or plot is thought about and developed by game designers or players. Once the game is conceptualized, writers and artists work together on the storyboard and create sketches of the sequence with instructions for the technology team. The sketches are then scanned on to a computer and the next step is to breathe life into the story and characters.
Among the many ways to create a game a popular solution is Macromedia Flash MX. This allows the creation of rich, graphic and multimedia driven gaming. Flash has a player, authoring tool, and a file format. Flash allows game developers to use:
• Rich graphics.
• Create files that are user friendly and can be downloaded over the internet.
• Allows the import of graphic formats. This means designers can use Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, or Fireworks to develop the game as long as the graphics are vector.
• Flash lends itself to the creation of quality graphics that can be broadcast over the internet.
Flash can be used to create action, adventure, educational, first-person shooter, puzzle, sports, or role playing games.
The actual process of creating a game is complex but involves:
• Creating the characters. Sketches are fine tuned until they are perfect. These are then transformed into 3D characters. The figures are scanned into a computer and a digital skeleton is created. This is what defines the size, shape, and movements of any figure in a game.
• Next the programmers use Flash to bring movement and emotions into the figures of the game.
• Movement and characterization of the figures is followed by special effects and creation of the environment. Skies, clouds, wind, reflections, shadows, and more add mystery and atmosphere to the game. Flash allows developers to produce realistic and complex environments. It is the environment that gives life and motion to a game. The 3D effects are created using polygons along with texture mapping.
• This is followed by coding. Codes are instructions written by developers that lends intelligence to the game and drives a game forward. The more complex a code the more thrilling a game. Codes establish logic to a game and generate the excitement and uniqueness.
• Once the coding is done the testing begins. The testing helps the developer fine tune the game before it is marketed. This is when the game is rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The rating indicates the appropriateness of the game for different age groups.
Flash is user friendly and therefore popular software with game developers. The World Wide Web offers Flash Tutorials for those interested in developing games. There are articles and tips and guidelines as well.

PDF Password Finder - How To Find Lost PDF Passwords
PDFs are great ways to pass documents around. You can even password protect them. But what happens when you come to open a PDF and it asks you politely for a password but you don't recall what the protection was. It's at times like these that you need a PDF password finder to help you find those lost strings of letters and numbers.
The degree of security on Adobe Acrobat files depends on the version of the software that was used to create the file you're desperately trying to open. Like most things to do with computers, older versions aren't as secure as newer versions.
Added to this is the person who created the file in the first place.
In fact, if you're trying to find a password this is often the first place to start.
Ebooks that you've bought are often protected by a password. Quite why, I've never worked out. After all, you've just bought the product so it's not as though you're trying to rip off the author. But each to their own.
If you're organized, you'll rename the ebook on your desktop so that the password is part of the file name. This quick and dirty method sure beats digging through past emails trying to remember what the subject of the email was so you can get to the protection.
Work based files can incorporate passwords as well. Most likely because you don't want the whole company reading your sales and profit projections. If the person who gave you the file regularly uses one particular password, start with that.
If that doesn't work, it's time to put on your thinking cap. Or splash out on a piece of software that will find the missing link for you.
Some software comes in "demo" mode first. This can be good or bad. Often the demo will only search through the first handful of possible characters and then give up unless you buy the full version.
So if you're not sure if the file will open with "london" or "new york" then this demo version may be enough to give your mind the way into the file.
But if the software is just sitting there with a smug grin on its face, with a message saying something along the lines of "Yes. I've got the password cracked. I know it and I won't tell you until you buy me" then you have a couple options:
- Pay the blackmail cost and get your file open.
- Delete the software and try the next program on your list.
- Scream to yourself and curse whoever sent you this darned password protected PDF file in the first place.
Get the best PDF password finder information including which software is the easiest and most reliable PDF password cracker

Create a Teacher Website that Works for You
If your classroom webpage isn't making your job easier, or helping you do it better, maybe its time to evaluate and consider some changes.
People today are busy, and teachers are no exception. Either are students and parents for that matter. We all want information quick, easy, and pertinent. And that is exactly what a teacher website must do. If it fails, then valuable time, and maybe resources, are being spent without accomplishing an important goal. One way to help you achieve this is to use a service that allows you to create your own site (such as www.DapperApple.com)
Information Quick:
Daily updates are a must. Remember, a student that is absent may want to check your site for the night's homework assignment. Well, he may not, but his parents will. The information must be posted promptly. Reserve time before class to update your site. If properly planned, just a few minutes should be all that is needed.
If possible, get your class involved. If they can update some pages, it can become a rotating, class job.
Information Easy:
Don't bury the important information two, three, or more levels deep into your site. If it's important, link from the homepage or put it on the homepage. A consistent place that is easy to navigate to will ensure that users will always see your key messages. As users, we can get discouraged when we can’t find what we are looking for. That shouldn’t be the case with your students.
Information Pertinent:
We are bombarded with information online. Popups, advertisements, videos, and websites of every flavor are competing for our attention. Nothing is as welcome to a user as a crisp, clear message. Do away with space wasters such as visit counters and unnecessary graphics or games.
The bottom line - any and all features of your web site must be there because they help you do your job in some way.
As a busy educator, you probably have little time to devote to creating, and nurturing your classroom website. But it is becoming an essential tool. So, make sure that your content addresses problems, or areas you want to improve. Are too many of your students not doing their homework? Are they not getting the desired outcomes from lessons? Do you need more parent involvement? All of these, and other, questions should be considered when you are creating or modifying your website.
If you take the time to make sure your website provides quick, easy, and pertinent information, your site will work for you - making your job easier and helping you do it better.

Memory
A computer's memory can be viewed as a list of cells into which numbers can be placed or read. Each cell has a numbered "address" and can store a single number. The computer can be instructed to "put the number 123 into the cell numbered 1357" or to "add the number that is in cell 1357 to the number that is in cell 2468 and put the answer into cell 1595". The information stored in memory may represent practically anything. Letters, numbers, even computer instructions can be placed into memory with equal ease. Since the CPU does not differentiate between different types of information, it is up to the software to give significance to what the memory sees as nothing but a series of numbers.
In almost all modern computers, each memory cell is set up to store binary numbers in groups of eight bits (called a byte). Each byte is able to represent 256 different numbers; either from 0 to 255 or -128 to +127. To store larger numbers, several consecutive bytes may be used (typically, two, four or eight). When negative numbers are required, they are usually stored in two's complement notation. Other arrangements are possible, but are usually not seen outside of specialized applications or historical contexts. A computer can store any kind of information in memory as long as it can be somehow represented in numerical form. Modern computers have billions or even trillions of bytes of memory.
The CPU contains a special set of memory cells called registers that can be read and written to much more rapidly than the main memory area. There are typically between two and one hundred registers depending on the type of CPU. Registers are used for the most frequently needed data items to avoid having to access main memory every time data is needed. Since data is constantly being worked on, reducing the need to access main memory (which is often slow compared to the ALU and control units) greatly increases the computer's speed.
Computer main memory comes in two principal varieties: RAM and ROM. RAM can be read and written to anytime the CPU commands it, but ROM is pre-loaded with data and software that never changes, so the CPU can only read from it. ROM is typically used to store the computer's initial start-up instructions. In general, the contents of RAM is erased when the power to the computer is turned off while ROM retains its data indefinitely. In a PC, the ROM contains a specialized program called the BIOS that orchestrates loading the computer's operating system from the hard disk drive into RAM whenever the computer is turned on or reset. In embedded computers, which frequently do not have disk drives, all of the software required to perform the task may be stored in ROM. Software that is stored in ROM is often called firmware because it is notionally more like hardware than software. Flash memory blurs the distinction between ROM and RAM by retaining data when turned off but being rewritable like RAM. However, flash memory is typically much slower than conventional ROM and RAM so its use is restricted to applications where high speeds are not required.
In more sophisticated computers there may be one or more RAM cache memories which are slower than registers but faster than main memory. Generally computers with this sort of cache are designed to move frequently needed data into the cache automatically, often without the need for any intervention on the programmer's part.

Teachers want tech support
Educators believe technology is necessary to improve the quality of education in schools, according to a new survey.
Teachers believe technology is necessary to keep up the quality of education, but they need support to back them up, according to a new survey.
A poll conducted by ZyXEL Communications at the BETT show in London earlier this month showed that 85 per cent of IT staff and head teachers believe the quality of education will fall if they can not provide adequate technology for their students.
The survey also showed that two-thirds of respondents believed that current government policy needed an overhaul. "It's inadequate to what's needed," said Sarah Guy, marketing director at ZyXEL.
Guy said schools also asked for more day-to-day support from suppliers, who they said needed to better understand the specialist concerns of educators - especially as technology takes students out of the classroom more.
Indeed, seven out of 10 of those surveyed said they expected remote access to schoolwork to improve in the next five years. "We're seeing increasing movement with encouraging home access," said Guy.
The survey also found that 69 per cent of those surveyed were not concerned about electromagnetic radiation of wireless networks. "There's been a lot of media hype on that," Guy said. "Schools are not as concerned as media makes them out to be."
"A lot of its more about educating parents about the risks involved, rather than ripping it out," she added.

Millions of working mobiles are scrapped
This Christmas, 11 million Britons expect to get a shiny new mobile phone as a gift, but a fifth of respondents to a new survey admit they just toss away old handsets - even if they still work.
According to the study conducted by Tesco Mobile, that means some two million mobile phones will be scrapped after the holidays - prompting the firm to launch its own recycling programme.
Andy Dewhurst, chief executive of Tesco Mobile, said: "As a nation, we're becoming greater consumers of electronic goods and with constant technological advances we're upgrading them more frequently too - these goods have almost become disposable."
But handsets can be recycled - even if Britons aren't aware of it. Indeed, just 18 per cent of people surveyed said they recycle their handsets, with the most common method for disposal listed as tossing them in the bin or just leaving old phones lying around the house. Research earlier this year found that unwanted UK mobile phones could be worth some £1 billion.
Not surprising then, that a third of people under 25 have no idea where their nearest recycling plant is.
"These results are very worrying," said Dewhurst. To help battle the waste, Tesco has launched two recycling services, one in-store and another online. Customers who turn in their old handsets will be given Tesco Mobile airtime or store vouchers. The retail giant is hoping to recycle a million handsets in the next year.
But mobiles aren't the only electronic goods getting dumped on the scrap heap. A quarter of respondents said they bin computers, printers and game consoles rather than recycle them.
Some 60 per cent said there isn't enough incentive to recycle household electronics. Despite 58 per cent of respondents agreeing that recycling is the responsibility of individuals, not the government, only a fifth said they bother to recycle household waste.

Motherboards: - A new motherboard would deliver you smooth new technologies that you are missing right now. It would be faster, would be has Second-generation SATA connections, high-definition audio and even a Dual-card graphic. You should keep in mind to check either the motherboard you are buying has two or one USB ports in fronts or not, because of to plug in your USB memory drive and digital audio player etc.
Graphics: - Before going for shopping make sure what kind of Card will work suite in your PC. If you are a serious gamer and can pay as much go on dual-graphics-card. There are two types of cards, the one is removable from the board and the other is permanently soldered on the board. However we would recommend a discrete graphics board for gaming and an integrated graphics for other use.
